Behind The Song
I was inspired to write this after watching a tv show called “How I Met Your Mother”. If you don't know what that is, it’s a show about a father telling his kids all the stories that lead up to him meeting his wife and their mother. This used to be one of my favorite shows back in the day, so I randomly decided to re-watch it and I got inspired. I dont write a lot of love songs, so I thought it would be cool to write one in a similar style to how the show does it. Essentially telling a story of how you fall in love.
The visual I had for this song was a couple meeting 2 different times.
The first time they would lock eyes in a crowd and feel an instant attraction. Then the guy would walk over, introduce himself, compliment the girl's outfit, the girl would laugh, respond sarcastically trying not to be so eager, but the guy feels this sensation that they’ve known each other forever. They then would part ways.
The next time comes a few months later. This time the girl gets bumped and falls into the guy out in public. They spill their things, as they drop to pick up their things, they notice each other, she apologizes and says “I think this was destined to be”.
The rest of the song I wrote is surrounded by how he dreams of their wedding day and looking back on memories they would have 30 years later.
I wanted to add a quote from the show to the song as well cause I felt it fit perfectly. The quote is “Hi. In exactly 45 days from now, you and I are going to meet. And we’re going to fall in love. And we’re going to get married and we’re going to have two kids. And we’re going to love them and each other so much. All that is 45 days away. But I’m here now, I guess, because I want those extra 45 days. With you. I want each one of them. And if I can’t have them, I’ll take the 45 seconds before your boyfriend shows up and punches me in the face. Because I love you. I’m always going to love you. Until the end of my days. And beyond.”
Overall this is one of my favorite songs I’ve written, and I’m glad I get to share the story behind it with you.
