Behind The Song
I wrote this song about a festival I went to back in 2017. It was Boston Calling and the lineup was one of my favorites. I’m highly influenced by The 1975 and Bon Iver so seeing them at the same show was unreal. But this is also about the person I was seeing at the time.
The first verse still makes me laugh because that actually happened. It was during The 1975 set and she had no idea who that was so I was shocked, but then my friend passed me a cigarette and I was like “dude, why would I want this” cause I dont smoke, but I just took it anyway and smoked it cause why not lol. (I don't condone smoking cigarettes, they’re bad, don't tell your parents lol) But then the girl I was with flipped me off jokingly cause she knew I didn't smoke. And for some reason that was just an iconic point in time that I'll always remember. So I was like shittt I need to write a song about that.
Festivals always have a different type of vibe which is why I love them. And of course, people love to get a little wavy at them. So I wanted to make the chorus a little wavy as well ie: Then you looked at me, With those sunflower eyes, Seafoam smile, which I think came out pretty catchy.
So yea, this song is about a festival I went to, how I felt about the girl I was with, how it felt amazing to be there and share that moment with her and how I never wanted that feeling to end.
