Behind The Song

I actually wrote this song during the middle of winter lol. Guess I had some seasonal depression going on and was wishing for warmer weather. This song definitely has more of a summer vibe to it to me lol. It’s got some beachy and summer fling vibes going on. Anyway, I was thinking about warmer weather and how I missed the East Coast, and how I’ve always wanted to visit the Carolinas. So that’s where my mind was at when writing the lyrics to this track. I love going to the beach in the summer and staying until sunset and looking at the stars at night. There’s something amazing to me about watching a sunset on the beach then getting to see all the stars with no light pollution. Chilling on the beach, having a fire, surrounded by people you love, that’s happiness to me. That’s still something I do every summer and it’s one of my favorite things. I used to do this every year back in MA with a group of friends, and that’s one thing I miss dearly.

I actually got inspiration for the chorus in this song from the song “Kiss Me by Sixpence None The Richer”, you probably have heard it. It’s an amazing 90’s song that always makes me nostalgic. If you don't know by now, I love nostalgia and thinking back to when I was a kid. So “kiss me like it’s the 90’s” is a reference to that song and how much I love the 90’s. In other words, it means “kiss me like you love me” lol. Also, the references to “Cherry Wine” and “Pink Skies” are actually references to the songs, so they kinda have a double meaning in the song. The songs are Cherry Wine by Hozier and Pink Skies by LANY, they are both phenomenal songs.

So essentially this is a summer love song to listen to at the beach. When you’re surrounded by the people you love, having a fire, watching the coastal sky, and enjoying life for what it is. I hope you enjoy it! do u like
