The overall theme behind this song is a Summer fling. I really just wanted to write a fun, feel good summer song. I was listening to Blackbear a lot (which you can probably tell from the chorus) but I just love the vibe of his songs. So I was inspired to write an upbeat, feel good song that feels like you're at the beach or on the water. This is one song that isn't written about my actual life, it's a made up story. The main story behind the lyrics are about a girl that feels trapped in a toxic relationship. Although she grew up wealthy and has everything imaginable, she slowly starts seeing that money can’t fill the depressed feeling she has. she ends up meeting a summer fling that naturally feels like true love. A type of feeling that makes her feel more alive than she’s ever felt, so she goes with it. Bummer Summer
