A Day To Remember

"rebels now until the end"

Behind The Lyrics

So my fiancée kept asking when I would write her a song so I finally did. Her favorite place in the world is Joshua Tree, California, so I decided to write about a few trips we had out there. For anyone who hasn't been to Joshua Tree, it is a cool town with a National Park in the desert. Now I am not one who really likes above 100 degree weather or the desert, so it is not really my favorite place to go lol. But you know, it makes her happy so we went quite the amount of times. It was also the place where I proposed to her, so I thought this would be a great story for a song.

This song is essentially about being young and in love. That kind of honeymoon love that feels rebellious, and a time that you never want to end. That’s the kind of love I have with my fiancée and I wouldn't want it any other way. This song has a few personal stories in it over the past years of my life.

The first time I went to Vegas was for the first When We Were Young Festival in 2022. Maybe you’ve heard of it? Funny story, but I guess Vegas sometimes gets these wind storms where there are almost hurricane type winds. So long story short, I flew to Vegas and on the day of the festival, they canceled it for these winds lol. It wasn't too bad though, I got to still hang out with some friends and ended up going back the following weekend to see the festival.

Keys View is also a lookout spot in Joshua Tree National Park. This is actually the spot I proposed to my fiancée at. Shout out to all my friends and family who came out and made that the best day ever.

Music has always been the high of my life. There’s nothing better to me than seeing shows or even just singing songs with my friends when we're just hanging out. On multiple occasions I'm sure we’ve pissed off many people from our obnoxious drunk singing. Either after a show at 4am, waiting for the parking lot to empty or jamming just hanging out. But that's who we are, just reckless, rebellious kids.

One of my fiancée’s and I’s favorite bands is also A Day To Remember. I’ve been listening to them for over 10 years, so I wanted to quote one of their songs as well as it seemed to fit so well “Here’s To The Past”. It also just seemed right to name this song after the band as well. This song is about nostalgia, young love, and a day that changed my life forever. A Day To Remember.

Lyrics

Ive been thinking about

That time in the desert

You know

That I hate the weather

You looked to the sky

What if we could stop the time?

Save a little bit

Something to tell the kids

Like that time the wind blew over Vegas

Maybe hit some more National Parks

Keys View, was you from the start

I remember when

I remember when

We pissed off the neighbors

Singing songs we love

I remember that drive on the 10

Couple drinks in hand

Rearview mirror blue and red

Here’s to the past it's over now

Lately i've been thinking about

You, rolling the dice again

You, rebels now until the end

Been a while since i've seen the east coast

The place that we call home

Yea way back when

Making old feel new again

See our favorite bands

Break out those old vans

Tailgate the parking lot till 4 am

Feels good to see some old friends

How've you been?

I remember when

I remember when

We pissed off the neighbors

Singing songs we love

I remember that drive on the 10

Couple drinks in hand

Rearview mirror blue and red

Here’s to the past it's over now

Lately i've been thinking about

You, rolling the dice again

You, rebels now oh rebels now

Till the end

I remember that drive on the 10

Couple drinks in hand

Rearview mirror blue and red

Here’s to the past it's over now

Lately i've been thinking about

You, rolling the dice again

You, rebels now until the end
